Herongate Cricket Club has been part of our village life for 158 years.  In recent times the club has fallen into disrepair and financial hardship.  At an Emergency General Meeting earlier in the year, the decision was taken to wind up the old club and form a new Herongate and Ingrave Cricket Club and instead of the committee being staffed by players, the new committee would consist of players and villagers with the aim of combing cricket and village life.

The ultimate goal will be to rebuild the clubhouse so it can not only be used for cricket in the evenings and weekends during the summer but also serve as an amenity to clubs and villagers alike within our community.  In the meantime we will endeavour to improve the appearance of the existing clubhouse and clean up and maintain the cricket common.

Over the coming weeks we will updating this section of the website to inform you of how the fundraising efforts are going.

UPDATE!!!

It is with great pleasure that we can confirm that the fundraising efforts of 2008 (which were fantastically organised by Tracey Dixon and her Social Committe) managed to raise approximately £10,000.  Yes, you read right TEN THOUSAND POUNDS (yes, British Sterling).  Its an amount we didn't dare dream of and is a massive boost to the club.  We would like to thank everyone, from those who came along to our events, made donations, voluntered their time and resources and those who made the massive undertaking of organising the events.  Herongate and Ingrave has a cricket club (which is solvent and has a non-leaky roof) because of you.

At the AGM in Januaray 2009 it was decided that once the outgoings had been taken care of we should use some of the money to improve the facilities at the club.  We will be looking to provide an artificial strip by the pavillion, side screens and a bowling machine for everyone to utilize.  We will also be making improvements to the club house (hand driers were mentioned) and the pitch (a scoreboard with a full set of numbers - oh yes, we're going up in the world).  We will also be using the money to improve the coaching standards and facilities at the club for both Adult and Colt members.

More to follow..........
